Volunteers Are the Heart of The GreenHouse

The GreenHouse is a community built by people who care—and our volunteers are at the heart of it all.

You show up with your time, your talents, your creativity, and, most importantly, your heart. You help kids with homework, cheer on teens, pull weeds in the garden, share a favorite hobby, help at events, lend a helping hand, and sometimes simply sit down and listen.

These everyday moments matter. These are how relationships are built, confidence grows, and young people know that their community believes in them. In fact, one-third of all the hours worked at The GreenHouse each year are contributed by you, our volunteers. That's thousands of hours of people choosing to show up for our kids, our families, and our community.

We couldn't do what we do without you. You truly are part of what makes The GreenHouse a safe haven and a place of belonging.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Get familiar with what we do at The GreenHouse by looking at our volunteer opportunities listed below. Our greatest volunteer need is tutors for our afterschool programs (Evergreen and R4).

    • Program Director: Deborah Blanco

    • Available: September through May

    • Commitment: 6 months at 2.5 hours/week (can vary depending on your availability)

    • Age Group: 1st–6th grade

    • Meet Days and Times: Mondays (3:00-5:30pm), Wednesdays (2-3:30pm or 4-5:30pm), or Fridays (3-5:30pm)

    • Requirements: Must be 16 years and older to volunteer. Volunteers 18+ must be fingerprinted. Must attend training session.

    • Program Director: Deborah Blanco

    • Available: September through May

    • Commitment: 1 semester, 4 hours/week

    • Age Group: 1st–6th grade

    • Meet Dates: Monday*, Wednesday*, or Friday*

    • Meet Time: 1:30p-5:30p

    • Requirements: Must be 16 years and older to volunteer. Volunteers 18+ must be fingerprinted. Must attend training session.

    *Choose one day of the above to come in for 4 hours.

    • Program Director: Deborah Blanco

    • Available: September through May

    • Commitment: 9 Months

    • Age Group: 5th and 6th Grade

    • Meet Days and Times: Every other Tuesday, 6:00–7:30pm

    • Requirements: Must be 16 years and older to volunteer. Volunteers 18+ must be fingerprinted. Must attend training session.

    • Program Director: Deborah Blanco

    • Available: June and July

    • Commitment: 5 weeks, 2.5 hours per week

    • Age Group: 1st–6th Grade

    • Meet Days and Times: Monday through Thursday, 10:00am–12:30pm (Mon–Wed), 1:30–4:00pm (Thurs)*

    • Requirements: Must be 16 years and older to volunteer. Volunteers 18+ must be fingerprinted. Must attend training session.

    *Can vary depending on your availability

    • Program Director: Maliya Vaughan

    • Available: September through May

    • Commitment: 6 months*, 2.5 hours/week*

    • Age Group: 7th–9th Grade

    • Meet Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday, 3:00–4:30/5:30pm

    • Requirements: Must be 18+ to volunteer in the Teen Programs. Must be fingerprinted and attend training sessions.

    *Can vary depending on your availability

    • Program Director: Maliya Vaughan

    • Available: September through May

    • Commitment: 1 semester, 4 hours per week*

    • Age Group: 7th–9th Grade

    • Meet Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday, 1:30–5:30pm

    • Requirements: Must be 18+ to volunteer in the Teen Programs. Must be fingerprinted and attend training sessions.

    *Choose one of the two days to come in for 4 hours

    • Program Director: Maliya Vaughan

    • Available: June and July

    • Commitment: 5 weeks, 3.5 hours per week*

    • Age Group: 7th–9th Grade

    • Meet Days and Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00am–12:30pm*

    • Requirements: Must be 18+ to volunteer in the Teen Programs. Must be fingerprinted and attend training sessions.

    *Can vary depending on your availability

    • Program Director: Maliya Vaughan

    • Available: Year round

    • Commitment: 1 year, 1.5-2hours/week*

    • Age Group: 7th–12th Grade

    • Meet Days and Times: Wednesdays, 6:00–8:00pm*

    • Requirements: Must be 18+ to volunteer in the Teen Programs. Must be fingerprinted and attend training sessions.

  • Interested in helping with our 2026 Pumpkin Patch? It’s an event for the whole community full of fun activities like face painting and pumpkin decorating and time to connect with other youth and families from the neighborhood. Your support will help us make this a really great night!

NEXT STEPS

To become a volunteer at The GreenHouse, the first step is to fill out a Volunteer Application or our High School Volunteer Application as well as our Volunteer Interest Form. Upon filling those out, contact our Volunteer Coordinator to set up an interview. We look forward to connecting with you!
